Burning Man or a Toddler?
Here is a list of 18 things that are identical if you are attending Burning Man or parenting a toddler! How funny and true! 🙂

If I wasn’t trying to be a minimalist, this is the kind of awesome clock I would buy! 🙂
While I was in Shanghai, I took a fun motorcycle sidecar tour around the city. This is Bagsnob who went along with me. I thought she looked completely ridiculous in this helmet thing so I had to take a photo! We spent about three hours tooling around the city and spent most of the time in the old French concession area. If you get a chance to take a motorcycle sidecar tour, I highly recommend it!
Right before I headed out this year, I did a fun interview with Steve Brazill on his podcast called “Behind the Shot.” Check it out below – thanks again Steve!
I was visiting some friends over near Jack’s Point for a dinner and I walked down on the beach around sunset. I didn’t have my big-boy camera with me, but I did have the Pixel 3. I often use it to take a series of vertical photos and then I stitch them together later using Lightroom. I don’t like using the panorama mode in the camera app because it doesn’t produce as high-res of an image.
I was recently interviewed by Elle in their new Instagram article about Instagram Fraud. I hope you enjoy the read! 🙂
I took this one beautiful morning at Lake Hayes, near Queenstown, New Zealand. I’ve always wanted to take a balloon ride here, but I haven’t carved out enough time to make it happen. I’ve never taken a balloon ride before, and I’m often confused about how you steer the thing around. I know there’s air currents and stuff, but how do you know? And what if you blow over the mountain into an area with no roads (which is most of New Zealand)? I don’t know… these are all the questions I will ask the balloonist (is that what they are called) when I finally get on a balloon.
I thought I would share three fun photos from Canada. They’re all quite different, but I hope you enjoy!
And now on with the show…

At a recent art talk, I got many questions about my workflow. This is a fairly “boring” but important thing, so I decided to make a video for you that shows how I do this! Hopefully I keep it upbeat enough so that it is not too boring!
Here’s a new article about psychedelic and MDMA research being done at Johns Hopkins Medicine. I think this is great stuff and I fully support it.
When he’s not discovering and naming Maiasaura, or advising on the Jurassic Park movies (where he was part of the inspiration for Sam Neill’s character) Dr. Jack Horner has some fascinating things to say about slime mold.
Check out the other episodes on your favourite streaming services (iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify or in some regions Google Play).
Or you can watch the 360 versions here.
Every night in Singapore there is a big light show with lasers and music and all sorts of stuff going on. There are thousands of good photos already, so I was running around trying to find a few unique angles to catch the action. Here’s one that I kinda like. This is the Marina Bay Sands hotel and that huge structure that goes across all three buildings is actually a swimming pool.
Kyoto is such an awesome place in autumn, amazing colors absolutely everywhere. Here’s another of my favorites from there.
Here’s one of my best travel tips when visiting Fushimi Inari-Taisha in Kyoto. Go after dinner and stay late into the night. There is no ticket-entrance fee or anything, and you can wander around it all night long! There is pretty good lighting, and where there is not good-lighting, it’s kind of spooky. Most importantly there are almost no humans around to get in the way of your shots!
Here is a little video we put together from my last visit to Berlin.
Here’s a shot of the rather amazing bar on the ground level of the Ritz-Carlton in Berlin. It’s based on different fragrances, and this is the scene you see as you walk in. My little tip for shooting places like these are to get in there about half an hour before they open so you can get all the photos you want… I try not to take pictures of guests, as that can be kind of a touchy subject.
Here’s a Fairly Random Video I made with Ethan! He recently went to Outward Bound in New Zealand and I thought you might like to see some of it… the camera is a little messed up because the screen was cracked! But, if you can ignore that, maybe you’ll still like it! 🙂
And remember, this is 360 so you can spin the view all over the place.
Some of my favorite photos I got in Sanya were from the main beach while using a drone. This is yet another place in China where I am not sure if it is legal to fly drones or not. But since Sanya is in a more remote area of China, I figured it was okay. I’m 99% sure that all these huge boats out here are abandoned… at least they looked abandoned when I got close with the drone!
Here’s a cool video I hope you like! While I was on tour across Europe a few years ago, I would give art talks at different Ritz-Carlton hotels along the way. One of the gentlemen there that helps run the show, Nick Teare, asked me if I’d be interested in making the video for the new Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. It was a very fun project! I ended up with about 22 iterations before we finally ended up with what you see now. If you end up staying at some of the Marriott Luxury locations, you will probably see this video playing in your room on a loop! Also, a big thanks to Sam Mehrtens for composing the music!
If you’re headed to any Muslim country, I always recommend you go visit a few mosques. They are great for photography and generally very interesting places. You don’t have to worry about dress too much (well, don’t wear shorts) because most of them have a little station in the front where you can put on the appropriate garb.
