The Hills has some of the most amazing art scattered all over the property. This one happens to be the work of the uber-talented Mark Hill. He has cool works scattered not just all over the coarse, but all over New Zealand. Even better, he’s a heck of a nice guy! I’m amazed at what his creative brain can come up with!

This balloon company was nice enough to invite me out on a ride, but I’ve never taken them up on it! I don’t know why… I’m not THAT busy! I bet it would be absolutely beautiful too. I’ve flown over this area many times in a helicopter and taken photos, but that’s always a bit of a rush. I think being on a balloon would be very calm and relaxing, allowing you to take all the time you need to compose photos of beautiful Queenstown.

College Behind Bars

There is a new great documentary that you can stream live from PBS called College Behind Bars. I first heard about it on a Sam Harris podcast.

There is a semi-regular street party in Berlin with all sorts of awesome people. They dress up in many different outfits and costumes, so it’s quite the panacea for photographers. People are also extremely extroverted there, a lot like Burning Man, so nobody really complains when you take their photo. Besides all that, there’s lots of dancing, performances, music, and pretty much anything you can think of!

But, since it’s hard to take a bad photo around Queenstown, you end up with a ton of extra photos anyway! One of my favorite things about these grasses is how they flex and wave in the summer winds.

If you’re a Passport Member then today you get to see a new tutorial video I made about using textures with the new version of Luminar! I’ve been playing with it quite a bit, so you’ll get to see all my new tricks. I had a lot of fun making this new tutorial, as you can tell!

Using Textures in Luminar

If you’ve seen my previous tutorials on textures, then you know how it can be a bit daunting to use these with Photoshop. I think when you use Luminar that things are about 100x easier because of the interface. In the video, I show three levels of expertise. I start with fairly basic stuff that anyone can easily understand and then I ramp it up to the next few levels if you want to try some more advanced techniques.

Wow that Zimbabwe really had some awesome looking people. I didn’t expect to take as many people photos as I did. I think one big reason is we were entertained at a fun festival and everybody was so colorful and excited to have their photos taken! I wish I had brought one of those Polaroid cameras so I could give them some instant print outs!
