Flat Earth. New Zealand.

I always have weird and surreal experiences on this golf course. Firstly, of course I take my camera all over the place along with my clubs so that looks a bit odd to everyone. Also, as it is a private club there is often no-one else nearby on the course so it’s just empty and surreal. I also listen to strange music while I roll around, taking photos, and the stopping occasionally for some golf. When I finished here on 18 one evening, I was actually the last person around… even that awesome clubhouse there in the distance was empty…

New Psychedelic Training Centers Popping Up Around the World
How cool is this? I’m a huge supporter of MAPS and this kind of news about New Schools Around the World for Psychedelic Medicine. Yep, I’m a big believer in this movement… and it will cure millions of people.

These are the incredibly awesome wolves at The Hills country club. I met the artist in Beijing, and we had a fun tea and crackers together in his studio. He didn’t speak a lick of English and I didn’t speak a lick of Mandarin – but we had a few translators, so it kinda worked. Besides, we would show one another art and we would ooh and ahh at it all 🙂

I think maybe photographers have a particularly fun life because perhaps we notice things more than other people. I mean, I see non-photographers notice interesting things too, but I am usually thinking, “Yeah, I saw that ages ago.” Haha… not in a dismissive way, but I think once you start taking photos you just notice a little bit more of everything.
The Dragonflies at The Hills
A Normal Day in China
After going to China about a dozen times, I can confirm this is pretty accurate.

The Hills has some of the most amazing art scattered all over the property. This one happens to be the work of the uber-talented Mark Hill. He has cool works scattered not just all over the coarse, but all over New Zealand. Even better, he’s a heck of a nice guy! I’m amazed at what his creative brain can come up with!
Max Patte Art at the Hills
Fleabag Season 2
I talk about this show all the time… Here’s a trailer for Season 2 of one of my favorite comedies. I think this lady is a genius:

Max Patte is a very interesting artist from here in New Zealand. Any of you that have been to Wellington may have seen this same sculpture on the harbor. If you’re at The Hills, you’ll see the same piece in a slightly different setting. It’s amazing how much a setting can change the way you read a sculpture.
Max Patte’s Horses at The Hills
Crazy Japanese Game
This is a “game” they play in Japan called Bo-Taoshi. It’s mostly done in the military. Click the video title to see the full frame, it’s worth it!

We had a wonderful time strolling around The Hills during our photo workshop. I really enjoy seeing how excited people are when they see the unique art and sculptures spread around the course. Here, you can see one of my new besties out with these incredible horses that were designed and built by Max Patte.

More Train Action in India
I never get tired of looking at these crazy train situations in India.

I should spend more time taking photos at The Hills! It’s such a great place and perfect tableau for creating art. There are all sorts of cool sculptures all over the place, and this one is Michael Hill’s son, Mark. He has his studio very close by. Whenever I wander around, I stop by his studio to have a look at his latest creations. He’s a very inspiring guy, like his dad!

Banned in China
I believe my blog is still banned in China, so they certainly won’t mind if I post this video about a man asking students from Peking University if they know what day it is.
