In a disorienting Beijing room, the familiar became surreal. Lights defied expectations, objects abandoned their usual places, and the mundane transformed into the extraordinary.
I found this while out on my random morning run along the beach in Costa Rica. Overall I’ve had a wild month in Costa Rica… you can read about my four nights of Aya here.
We were out at Bendemeer Estates to get some photos not long after it was beginning development and was pretty much wide open with huge tracts of land photograph. Soon after a big storm cell started to roll through the valley towards us. These are some of my favorite photography situations, mostly because they seem so unbelievable — this period when the bright sun is shining on the scene while an evil cloud, livid with storm, is making itself known for the immediate future.
In Vienna, which is filled with amazing architecture and interiors, even the hotels have cool ceilings.
The weather this day was all over the place, changing all the time but that made for some epic scenes on the road.

As regular readers know, I like to experiment with AI stuff, and that continued this week with the launch of Stable Diffusion 3 Medium. It’s a new version of Stable Diffusion which is designed to improve aspects such as text or hands within images that are generated. It seems that has worked out pretty well…
You can grab SD3 Medium online and run it locally if you have a high-end PC/GPU. That’s quite a good “selling point” in a world where a lot of AI platforms are paid/subscription based.
