Cinque Terre – Stuck in Customs

under cover of darkness

Daily Photo – under cover of darkness

This shot was achieved during a rainstorm over a five minute period and after five glasses of wine. Manarola is one of a handful little towns that are nestled into the Italian coastline here in Cinque Terre.

Daily Photo – Further Back

A few days ago, I shared an image from Cinque Terre, one of my favorites from there. Here’s a different angle, by drone, which shows more of the surrounding landscape which you don’t tend to see.

When In Europe

Daily Photo – When In Europe

One of the absolute highlights of our tour in Europe was the day or so of down time that we had on the Italian coast. So much amazing wine, food and scenery… awesome, friendly people too. 🙂

Thinking about the next drop

Daily Photo – Thinking about the next drop

I’ve some cool projects in the works which have been a lot of fun to work on and some are nearing completion, so it’s time to start thinking about what comes next. Maybe it’s time for a new photography NFT drop… this image from Italy would definitely be in contention for that. (It’s also one of my favorite shots captured on the Hasselblad medium format.)

Manarola While Waiting on Pizza

Daily Photo – Manarola While Waiting on Pizza

We stopped at an amazing restaurant here after our train ride into these amazing little towns along Cinque Terre. This was one of my favorite places, mostly because it was the most photogenic. Usually, after I order food, I get a bit restless and want to go out to take photos, especially in a place like this! So I headed out to launch the drone to try to get a bit of a unique view of this cool little town.

Floating over Cinque Terre

New Alan Watts Video

You may recognize today’s photo from one of my latest videos…

Daily Photo – Floating over Cinque Terre

Here’s one of the many photos I got with the quad while flying over Cinque Terre. It was an absolutely amazing place and I could definitely see myself living there. What could be better than an amazing coastline with Italian food every night?

Over Manarola in Cinque Terre

I should use more emojis

I read a lot of tech news to kind of stay abreast of that stuff because I find it interesting. Obviously, I use a lot of tech day-to-day so I like it to be as efficient and “fun” as possible. And there’s all this news about emojis lately. I use like three emojis, max. And seeing all this news makes me feel like I don’t even come close. I guess I don’t text chat enough with my phone? Anyway, I found this article about how different companies make the same emojis in different ways to be quite interesting!

Daily Photo – Over Manarola in Cinque Terre

We spent less than 24 hours here, but I did all I could to get as many regular and quad photos as possible. There are five little towns there in Cinque Terre, and this one was my favorite, Manarola. They had these colorful umbrellas all huddled together in the grey streets. It was pretty cloudy here, so the colors didn’t pop as much as they would in the sunlight, but I think it still looks pretty good. Sunlight may have even been overkill on the pop.

Beautiful Manorola from the Air

More Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster!

Hey I’m a big Thor: Ragnorak fan. It’s basically a comedy and Taika Waititi changed the whole formula around. One of my favorite characters was Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. They’ve started to release all the scenes that were cut from the final movie. Here’s one of them!

I predict that the vast majority of people that see this would agree this looks like a magical place to visit… or even live! You definitely get your legs a daily workout going up and down these hills to eat Italian food and drink Italian coffee. And if you go uphill and downhill enough, you can even get a bit of Italian dessert!

Beautiful Cinque Terre from Above

DJI Fun

It’s always a pain to carry around a quadcopter with you, but worth it when you have the right conditions. I did this with the Phantom 4, but I’ve thought about getting the smaller one to make it more convenient. My friend used his with me in Barcelona, and it was pretty much just as good. Well, I’ll wait a little while before I decide… I feel like DJI announces like 5 new products a year, so something else big may be coming out soon!

Daily Photo – Beautiful Cinque Terre from Above

This is an area I would certainly like to return to for an extended period. It’s so beautiful and peaceful around here. And the food… oh the food. I mean, you pretty much can’t go wrong with Italian food anywhere, but this is the kind of small-town place where it is extra authentic… Okay, I need to finish this post now because it’s starting to make me kind of hungry!

Dropbox or Google Drive?

I’m constantly debating about switching over to Google Drive. I don’t really have a compelling reason yet… Dropbox works perfectly. Sometimes I will use Google Drive to send very large files, however. We upgraded to the corporate Dropbox account, so now the entire team has a massive amount of storage. It’s a bit expensive, I suppose, but not the end of the world.

Daily Photo – From one coast to the next

During our never-ending European tour, we saw many different coastlines. Yesterday’s shot from France was preceded by this one in Italy. This was taken in Cinque Terre, looking out into the stormy sea. There was a rain storm coming in and I was mesmerized by all the moody blues. Not long after this, I got in a few final shots of the city in the pouring rain. You can see the one I got if you click on the Cinque Terre category.
