The Ritz-Carlton in Budapest
Budapest Video
Here’s a video I made about Budapest and our photo walk while I was there. Enjoy!

We stopped at an amazing restaurant here after our train ride into these amazing little towns along Cinque Terre. This was one of my favorite places, mostly because it was the most photogenic. Usually, after I order food, I get a bit restless and want to go out to take photos, especially in a place like this! So I headed out to launch the drone to try to get a bit of a unique view of this cool little town.
You may recognize today’s photo from one of my latest videos…
I got up early with the quadcopter in hopes of a good sunrise and I was lucky! I was staying here at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay with my family and they are used to me trudging out of the room in the dark trying not to wake everyone up. That doesn’t always work usually because I have to get my stuff together from all over the room. Anyway, after I got outside I was able to get the quad way out over the Pacific Ocean. Flying it over the water always gives me a little extra anxiety… I don’t know why. It’s just as likely to crash and break over land too!
Just like the Reddit title says, I’d love to have this guy read me the news every night.
I’d love to hear this guy reading the news every damn night from funny
Back when it was easier to use a drone at Burning Man, I got quite a few cool shots. This is one of them that shows “Center Camp” there to the left. That’s the area that people come to for all sorts of activities. There’s yoga, juggling, coffee, art, beat poets… man, you name it. Now, it’s quite a bit harder to get the license to fly a drone there. I applied the last two years but was denied 🙁
I was recently interviewed by Elle in their new Instagram article about Instagram Fraud. I hope you enjoy the read! 🙂
I took this one beautiful morning at Lake Hayes, near Queenstown, New Zealand. I’ve always wanted to take a balloon ride here, but I haven’t carved out enough time to make it happen. I’ve never taken a balloon ride before, and I’m often confused about how you steer the thing around. I know there’s air currents and stuff, but how do you know? And what if you blow over the mountain into an area with no roads (which is most of New Zealand)? I don’t know… these are all the questions I will ask the balloonist (is that what they are called) when I finally get on a balloon.
Here’s a fun video I recently did while on tour!
This is one of the coolest castles in the world. I actually don’t know if it qualifies as a “castle,” but I like to think of it as one. I don’t know if the Disney castle was inspired by this one or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
This was taken with a quadcopter and quite a difficult shot… I had the quad almost three miles away from me, and I kept losing the transmission signal… so there was a lot of guesswork and luck in play!
I found this short documentary on Reddit pretty interesting. The only thing I didn’t understand is why the balls are black instead of white. Also, it’s hard for me to believe that a little bit of that plastic doesn’t leech into the water supply. They never exactly gave the molecular make-up of the balls.
It’s been a few years since I have been to Matamata on the North Island and seeing these photos make me want to return. The farmers that originally owned (and still manage) the Hobbiton Movie Set have always been very generous and kind to me, so I try to repay them with as many photos as possible. In a way, this is an easy task, since it’s impossible to take a bad photo there.
Matt Mullenweg is not just the founder of WordPress and now Automattic, but he was also my lucky roommate on this week-long 200km hike through Spain. Not only is he warm at night, but he really knows how to work that loofa in the shower. We share many commonalities including the love of writing, Burning Man, hiking, and experimental and self-exploration use mind-expanding substances.

And here is lovely Matt…

It appears one of my photos was used for some funky dresses at a fashion show in Sri Lanka. Nothing says the effective end of a religious non-Catholic civil war better than a flowing gown adorned in a Catholic cathedral.
This was one of my most scary quad flights! I ended up getting some really cool photos of this place (this one included), but there was a lot of concern in getting the quad safely back home. Luckily, Curtis and Tane were there as spotters to make sure nothing went awry. You’ll see a scene from this same spot in the Ritz-Carlton Yacht video I posted a few days ago.
Today for Passport Members I’ve got a little bonus info on how I’m using the Origin PC in my overall workflow. Also, be sure to check out the full Origin PC Review here on the site!

In my ever-evolving situation, I made a short behind-the-scenes video a few days ago to show you my new workflow with the Origin PC. It’s really simplified things for me. I think my favorite thing is having this “home base” situation where 100% of my photos are on a super-fast machine. This gives me a great steadiness of mind!
