Listen to my new Podcast!
Check out the new podcast called “Molecules I’ve Ingested” at https://podcasts.treyratcliff.com/ ! We’ve actually recorded the first two episodes already… I got this idea from my friend Hanna in Scotland because she thought I had hilarious stories about trying different drugs, so I decided to turn it into a full podcast. Each episode is a different molecule. I teamed up with my friend and neighbor across the street, Harriett McDonald (who is also a voice actress) to be the storytellee. Is that a word? Not sure… either way, she’s awesome because she is straight as an arrow and more conservative than Pat Buchanan, so she asks all the obvious questions and rightly calls me out for being a moron. Anyway, each episode is focused on a different molecule and, beyond the wild stories, they are quite educational! So, yeah, Episode 1 is called Amazonian Giant Monkey Frog Poison aka The Cambo Ceremony and Episode 2 is Acid at Burning Man and the Asian Stalker – Enjoy and tell your friends! 🙂 I’m working on Episode 3 now… I think it’s gonna be called “Full Death Experience – Imbibing the Crystalized Poison of the Sonoran Desert Toad in the form of 5MEO-DMT.” Yeah, it’s kind of a long title, but that’s just what the master wordsmith ordered.
Daily Photo – Washington D.C. in the Snow
I went to DC last year to meet with my friends at the Ritz-Carlton (that’s where they are based). I got there a day early in the middle of a dramatic blizzard. I spent a few hours walking around and just taking photos with my Pixel phone… here is one of my favorites!
Social Dilemma Trailer
This is a great show to watch on Netflix… I’ve known about this stuff for a long time and wrote a lot about it in my book – and I’m glad this is going more mainstream now. Here’s the trailer for ya:
Daily Photo – Posing for Instagram in a snowstorm
I love watching people freeze off their fingers just to get the perfect shot for Instagram. It’s such a weird thing in a way… I guess it’s not the end of the world. At least she’s not in a bikini. Speaking of Instagram, be sure to check out the trailer above.
Daily Photo – DC After a Snowstorm
I arrived in DC at about the same time as a giant snowstorm. It was great for me because I had most of the day free just to walk around and get photos. I didn’t have a lot of winter-gear with me, but I was able to stay out taking photos for a solid three hours before I retreated back inside to the warmth to process some photos.
Daily Photo – The Washington Monument in a Snow Storm
I went to D.C. in the winter to visit my friends at the Ritz-Carlton and the Marriott, since this is where they are based. I had an extra day and there was quite a blizzard out there! So I ran around with my camera as long as I could stand the cold to get some photos. Here is one of my favorites…
Actual Reports from Travelers
Actually, I’m not surprised after traveling around a bit… I occasionally see these sorts of people at various locations.
Daily Photo – Snowstorm in D.C.
I recently posted this photo on social media and people really seemed to love it. I really did not expect that reaction! I mean, you never know what’s gonna be a hit and what won’t. You all know me… the reaction does not affect what I choose to shoot or post, but I do enjoy watching the reactions. It was so popular that I am putting in my upcoming book!
Ricky Gervais Funny Stuff
Here’s a nice compilation of Ricky Gervais cracking up at stuff!
Daily Photo – Washington DC in the Snow
I was there last winter on a particularly bitter-cold day. I decided to head out with my Pixel phone and see what kind of shots I could get. I had a rough theory that the shots from the Pixel would be no big difference from my Sony. And, I was pretty much right. If I had taken this shot with the Sony, I doubt anyone could tell the difference side-by-side. Of course, there’d be a difference if you zoomed in to 100% because of the megapixel difference.
Sunset Beach Photo Tips
I spend a lot of time taking sunset photos on beaches. It doesn’t mean I’m an expert or anything, but I have a lot of experience with it. Anyway, in this video, I talk a bit about composition and my setup for the shot.
Daily Photo – Wolfgang Thrust
For a fun experiment, we made a fake Instagram account for Tane. I wanted to name him “Wolfgang Thrust,” but in the end, we decided this might cause a bit of bias in the experiment. Anyway, that has very little to do with this photo that I got at the Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. This last weekend, I went through and started pulling out unprocessed photos from many years ago. This is one of the random ones I chose to process!
Special Prizes for European Photo Walks!
We have all sorts of great prizes (even if you are not there and just following on the internet) of our European Photo Walk Tour! We have some great online contests and more. And yes, we’ll try to bring the Photo Walk tour to a place near you soon! 🙂
Daily Photo – Outside the Bus
Believe it or not, when we pulled up to the Washington DC Photo Walk, this was the view outside our tour-bus window! How cool, eh? I remember DC was a big mess (the photo walk went great). But we had no internet, and I was trying to upload all this stuff… so I had to uber all around town to find a good coffee shop. That is one of those things that took hours more than I expected… then I wanted to go for a jog and barely squeezed that in… then I was getting ready for the photo walk and I realized I forgot to eat all day! And this was coming off back-to-back night-to-night photo walks in New York and Philidelphia! This time, in Europe, I’m gonna pace myself a bit better.
DC Highlight Video
Here’s highlights from our great photo walk there. Thanks again everyone for coming out! 🙂
