The Painted Sky of Dunedin

Aurora HDR Pro

This is one of the most “extreme” filters from the New Aurora Expansion Preset Pack that I designed about a month ago. I actually did a lot of the design while I was down here in Dunedin, taking photos of various subject matters.

Daily Photo – The Painted Sky of Dunedin

I was lucky enough to stay on St. Clair’s beach in Dunedin for a few nights. Each morning had a different sort of sunrise. This was one of my favorites. I was out there pretty much all the time, with my camera fully loaded and ready to go!

The Train Station in Dunedin

Cruising Crazy

Do you know how much the internet on a cruise is? Oh my gosh…. it’s just offensive… Where are the Google Loon Balloons when I need them!??

Daily Photo – The Train Station in Dunedin

I’ve only spent one night in Dunedin, which is on quite far south on the South Island of New Zealand. This train station is very famous and quite beautiful. There was a crazy sunset this night, and there was no train traffic at all, so I felt pretty safe running all around the tracks and jumping up on the train cars to get direction. Actually, jumping around train cars is not very easy. It looks like it might be easy, but everything is just beyond an easy jump or an easy boost!

Tunnel Beach

Visiting Dunedin

When I got the shot below, I only visited Dunedin for one day and one night. It was not enough time! There were many more things I wanted to do there… and even though I am not a bird photographer, I was very interested in seeing the albatross colony – but I ran out of time! 🙁 Maybe next time I will schedule in a bit more…

Daily Photo – Tunnel Beach

This is a really beautiful and unique beach just south of Dunedin. It’s not a drive-up-and-visit-beach. It’s a drive-up-and-walk-a-long-way-then-down-a-long-tunnel-beach. Once we got down there, hardly anyone was at the beach. The views are amazing, and we even saw a few cliff divers. I think those guys are a bit crazy! 🙂

Moving to New Zealand

Why Did I Move to New Zealand?

There’s a long story to it all… but I think you can see a lot of the reasons in the video below.

By the way, if you are looking to buy a house here and need a recommendation, contact me via [email protected] and the team will get you to me. I can make an excellent recommendation for you!

This video was made with Animoto!

I used a cool online thing called Animoto to make this video. I also wrote up a full Animoto Review here on the site.

You can also use the Animoto Coupon Code of “STUCKINCUSTOMS” to get 2 months free with a pro account… thanks for the team there for providing that for us!

New Video – Turning to Peace in New Zealand

It’s a hi-rez video… I recommend listening with earphones or good speakers too – enjoy 🙂

Name That Bird!

A 14mm prime

If you had a 14mm prime, what would you take photos of? We are having this discussion in the clubhouse… and I was kind of curious what everyone thought.

Daily Photo – Name That Bird!

We had left Dunedin, in the very south of New Zealand, before switchbacking our way up a steep mountain to visit this castle. It’s called the Larncach Castle, and it was very beautiful. The gardens were immaculate, and there were many interesting subjects for photography.

I found this little guy over by a pond and bent over with my 14-24mm to take a shot. You have to get in close with this lens, and I felt a little strange getting so close to such a strange beasty. Anyone know what it is?
