While I’ve been walking through my past cameras, I talked a little in a previous post about my move to the Pixel series of phones from Google and shared an image from (i think) one of the earliest models. I talked way back about how I could see mobiles taking over from “real” cameras and I do certainly find myself using my later Pixels more and more… although sometimes through necessity, such as this trip to Madagascar where the airline lost my bag containing my a7R III, so all I had for a few days was my Pixel 3 XL.
Here’s another image from my random wander around Morondava in Madagascar while I was still waiting on the airline finding my luggage… including “real” camera… nicely captured, Pixel, nicely captured… 🙂
Here’s another photo I got with my Pixel 4 while I was stuck for a few days without my big boy camera. Air Madagascar lost our luggage for a few days and I had forgotten to hand-carry my Sony. This sucked, but it also forced me to use my mobile phone to get as many photos as possible. The Pixel 4 has a really smart machine-learning tool to help blur out the background to make it look like I shot this with a Leica 50mm!
Machine Elf 83 – Clockwork Zimmer | Trey Ratcliff & Hans Zimmer Music
In my journeys into the DMT spirit world of impossible unfolding geometries where I encounter everything from machine elf entities to understanding the slippery veil of life, I’ve seen and felt all sorts of things. This is one of my new favorite creations that will take you on your own journey. The music I selected for this one is definitely more intense than the others, which tend to be more meditative. You’re about to go on a little tour of Hans Zimmer with Bladerunner 2049. It will start and end softly with a bit of intensity in the middle, like any good journey. Enjoy!
Daily Photo – Cool Kids Hanging in Madagascar
What a cool group of kids eh? You can almost find any group of kids sitting around and it’s like you are on some kind of a shoot for Benneton or something. It’s like I styled each kid and found the perfect background for a cool shot… but this is just how they hang out all the time. I wish I was that cool when I was a kid.
The kids along the beach there were totally incredible! They loved seeing someone with a camera and would not stop posing. The kids reminded me a lot of my daughter Scarlett… who sees a camera then just starts performing left and right. I don’t know where certain kids get that from, but I think it’s amazing. I see a lot of that from “grown-ups” at Burning Man who are able to re-engage their inner child.
About the middle of the day everyone starts bringing in their boats with their morning catches here on the beach on Madagascar. It’s cool to see all these guys carrying the boat while almost running full speed. I would have asked to help but they could probably just look me up and down and know I was useless.
If you haven’t gotten my New Tutorial, which is currently on sale, then you’re really missing out! Here’s a trailer for it:
Daily Photo – Mom and Baby Elephant
I don’t know if that’s a mom or dad. I’m just assuming it’s a mom because, if I were a baby, I’d feel like my mom is more likely to take care of me while dad is off rolling around in some mud pit with his friends. You can see some of this footage in the video above!
