Daily Photo – Kids with Attitude in Madagascar

When I say they have “attitude,” I mean it in the coolest way. You know how some kids just kind of have this undeniable presence? Yeah, a bunch of these kids did. And, somehow, they knew just how to pose like they were Instagram Influencers or something!

Along the Beachfront

Daily Photo – Along the Beachfront

While in Madagascar, we spent quite a few days staying on the beach in Morondava. Every day, we’d see all sorts of local people walking up and down the beach, mostly engaged in fish-related activities. Late one day, while out preparing to take sunset photos, I saw this mom with her kids walking back home. I had on my Bose headphones, so I put it on the heads of her kids to dance while I took mom’s photo.

Selling Typewriters

Reality as it is?

One of my good friends that is obsessed with reality shared this with me… I thought it was beyond interesting.

Daily Photo – Selling Typewriters

There is a huge set of stairs in Antananarivo that connect the lower part of the city to the upper part. All along both sides are people selling pretty much anything you can imagine. It’s mostly the sort of stuff people in the west would consider antiques. But people here actually still use this stuff. It’s both strange and not-strange. The whole thing is a bit of an anachronism because people that are selling this stuff are always behind the tables on their smartphones.

Three Photographers from Madagascar

Tesla Truck Testing

They released a new video to see how tough to new Tesla truck is actual street conditions. Note that even though this is silly, I actually do want one!

First real structural integrity test on real condition for the Tesla cybertruck was successful. No scratches observed. from funny

Daily Photo – Three Photographers from Madagascar

I was walking around with my friend Rene and we came across these three girls who were out taking photos. It was actually the very first DSLR I saw while there, and I was really surprised. They supposedly came from a different part of Madagascar because of their face paint. Also, they didn’t speak any English so it was really quite hard to communicate! But I thought they looked cool! By the way, this is a shot with my Pixel 3 phone. Not bad, eh?

Fixing Mobile Phones in Madagascar

Street Photography in the new Tutorial!

If you have the new photography tutorial I released a few days ago, then you’ll really love the lessons about People and Street Photography. In those, you get to see how I edited this photo! Here’s a promo of the new tutorial!

Daily Photo – Fixing Mobile Phones in Madagascar

Here’s one of my favorite “street” photos from Madagascar. There are all kinds of colorful little shops and interesting people in every nook and cranny. I was particularly taken with this guy who would spend all day fixing the array of mobile phones in front of him.

On the Beach in Madagascar

Daily Photo – On the Beach in Madagascar

Man, I absolutely love this Sony 24-105mm lens. It absolutely rocks. It only goes down to F/4, and you would think, “Hmmm, that’s not too impressive!” But, hey, look at that bokeh! That out-of-focus zone in the front and back is perfect… I could not ask for anything more. Well done, you crazy-smart optics engineers at Sony! ๐Ÿ™‚

Pretty Girl at the Kwik-E-Mart in Madagascar

Luminar 4 is go!

Wooo! Luminar 4 is officially out! That team over at Skylum has added some incredible features to this go-around. Be sure to get it! I use it every day!

Daily Photo – Pretty Girl at the Kwik-E-Mart in Madagascar

I took this with my Pixel 3 phone. Incredible, right? At some point, I’m going to stop being amazed at all the cool photos I get with this incredible phone. I’m about to get the Pixel 4, which is supposed to be even better. Another interesting thing is that this girl wasn’t even posing. That’s how she was sitting when my friend Mark and I walked into the store together. I thought she was really beautiful and asked to take her photo… she was so cool and said, “Sure, why not?”

Baobab Trees of Madagascar

Luminar 4

Today’s photo reminds me that I used it as an example to show some of the new features of the new Luminar. There are about 20-30 different skies you can automatically swap out. One of the cooler aspects of the tool is that if you choose a sunset sky, it actually changes the tone of everything not in the sky as well. It’s adjustable so you can make it look incredibly realistic.
