Awesome People in Madagascar
Daily Photo – Awesome People in Madagascar
Here’s another photo I got with my Pixel 4 while I was stuck for a few days without my big boy camera. Air Madagascar lost our luggage for a few days and I had forgotten to hand-carry my Sony. This sucked, but it also forced me to use my mobile phone to get as many photos as possible. The Pixel 4 has a really smart machine-learning tool to help blur out the background to make it look like I shot this with a Leica 50mm!
Cool Kids Hanging in Madagascar
Machine Elf 83 – Clockwork Zimmer | Trey Ratcliff & Hans Zimmer Music
In my journeys into the DMT spirit world of impossible unfolding geometries where I encounter everything from machine elf entities to understanding the slippery veil of life, I’ve seen and felt all sorts of things. This is one of my new favorite creations that will take you on your own journey. The music I selected for this one is definitely more intense than the others, which tend to be more meditative. You’re about to go on a little tour of Hans Zimmer with Bladerunner 2049. It will start and end softly with a bit of intensity in the middle, like any good journey. Enjoy!

What a cool group of kids eh? You can almost find any group of kids sitting around and it’s like you are on some kind of a shoot for Benneton or something. It’s like I styled each kid and found the perfect background for a cool shot… but this is just how they hang out all the time. I wish I was that cool when I was a kid.
Cute Kid on the Beach in Madagascar
Daily Photo – Cute Kid on the Beach in Madagascar
The kids along the beach there were totally incredible! They loved seeing someone with a camera and would not stop posing. The kids reminded me a lot of my daughter Scarlett… who sees a camera then just starts performing left and right. I don’t know where certain kids get that from, but I think it’s amazing. I see a lot of that from “grown-ups” at Burning Man who are able to re-engage their inner child.
Returning From Fishing
Daily Photo – Returning From Fishing
About the middle of the day everyone starts bringing in their boats with their morning catches here on the beach on Madagascar. It’s cool to see all these guys carrying the boat while almost running full speed. I would have asked to help but they could probably just look me up and down and know I was useless.
Mom and Baby Elephant
Travel Photography Tutorial
If you haven’t gotten my New Tutorial, which is currently on sale, then you’re really missing out! Here’s a trailer for it:
Daily Photo – Mom and Baby Elephant
I don’t know if that’s a mom or dad. I’m just assuming it’s a mom because, if I were a baby, I’d feel like my mom is more likely to take care of me while dad is off rolling around in some mud pit with his friends. You can see some of this footage in the video above!
Sassy kids in Madagascar
More Duncan for ya!
And here’s yet another fun episode with Duncan!

These kids were posing machines. They didn’t know have like one or two poses – there were hundreds! I could barely keep up. They also loved seeing the photos when they were finished as well… I kind of wish I had a Polaroid camera that could give them instant printouts.
Along the beach in Madagascar
Daily Photo – Along the beach in Madagascar
Almost every day in Madagascar, I went out on a jog up and down the beach. This was during a period when my luggage was lost, which meant I didn’t have my big boy camera. Oh well! No worries… I made it a challenge for myself to use my Pixel phone as much as a good. This is one of the many fun photos I got while working the scene up and down the beach.
Kids with Attitude in Madagascar
My New Book
Don’t forget you can grab my new book on Amazon in either physical format or Kindle!
Daily Photo – Kids with Attitude in Madagascar
When I say they have “attitude,” I mean it in the coolest way. You know how some kids just kind of have this undeniable presence? Yeah, a bunch of these kids did. And, somehow, they knew just how to pose like they were Instagram Influencers or something!
Along the Beachfront
Daily Photo – Along the Beachfront
While in Madagascar, we spent quite a few days staying on the beach in Morondava. Every day, we’d see all sorts of local people walking up and down the beach, mostly engaged in fish-related activities. Late one day, while out preparing to take sunset photos, I saw this mom with her kids walking back home. I had on my Bose headphones, so I put it on the heads of her kids to dance while I took mom’s photo.
