The Old Docks on a Rainy Day

Netflix Ideas?

What are your favorite Netflix shows you’re addicted to? One of my top recommendations is House of Cards — be sure to watch that, especially if you’re a Kevin Spacey fan!

Passport Exclusive – Glenorchy Series Ep 3 of 4

Here’s my video where you can see a few different interpretations of how to edit this photo. I decided to just go with the Lightroom version and not do the HDR version. You’ll see more below!

Daily Photo – The Old Docks on a Rainy Day

This was the point when my day started turning around. It was raining here and I was about five hours into my largely unfruitful shooting day! I was now over an hour from home, but I decided to soldier on further into Glenorchy to see what I could find. I’m glad I kept on going… and I’m also kind of proud of myself for going out in the rain to get this moody shot!

The Road Home

Osmo Fun

Here’s a hot tip I figured out recently. I got this Osmo to hold the iPhone steady, but for some reason, I thought it was only for the iPhone. Now I see that it can stabilize most any phone, as long as it is not too huge. It could not hold an iPad mini or anything like that, but I was impressed when it effortlessly stabilized my huge Nexus android phone!

Passport Exclusive – Glenorchy Series Ep 2 of 4

Remember when I stopped here in the beginning of the video yesterday? Well, I got a shot then, but I didn’t like it. On the way back home, about 3 hours later, I stopped again to get the daily photo below, which I like a bit better.

Just to prove how bright and vibrant everything was, here is an unedited (no color adjustment) video from the Phantom 4 that same day.

Daily Photo – The Road Home

And here’s the final photo I got after a lot of trial and tribulation and a bit of worry! I don’t know what I was worried about… it turned out just fine. I probably have five different photos of this place, and I can’t figure out which one I like the most!

Autumn Hiking in Patagonia

Fun Passport Fun

Today Passport members are seeing me have a tough time getting a few shots on a rainy day in New Zealand. Then, over the next 3 days, I’ll also release how I edited them! 🙂

Back to Argentina?

I’ve been meaning to get back to Argentina and do another mega hike down here in Patagonia. It might be fun to plan a little workshop around that… hey that’s not a bad idea —will talk to the team about that. For other workshops, please visit our workshops page!

Tough Photo Day! I set out to spend the whole day taking photos. The weather for the first part was really bad… but I kept on plugging away. Here’s some footage of me out trying to get the shot.

Stay tuned TOMORROW and the NEXT DAY (and even the NEXT DAY) when you, wise Passport-holder, can see me edit a few of the photos I finally got!

Here’s a link to the original photos I’ll be working on over the next 3 days so you can follow along at home if you wish!

Daily Photo – Autumn Hiking in Patagonia

All the colors were vivid and fresh, especially when the sun splashed on them. Everything always seemed to be a little-bit-wet too, giving it an extra sheen. It looks like all the fauna and flora is easy to walk through too, but it isn’t. It’s thick as thieves and your legs are constantly getting caught up in it. Every now and then I’d try to go off-trail to get a shot here or there, and it was never as easy as I thought it would be.

Daily Photo – The Waves Crash in Iceland

Seeing this and working on it puts me right back in the mood of Iceland! It’s so rugged and extreme there. It always made me feel quite small and insignificant. These black rocks were extremely sharp and dangerous. I believe this is the same location where Clint Eastwood shot a few of his war movies. I feel sorry for those actors having to climb around on this sharp black glass!

The Cotton Candy Fjord

An Older Photo, Remastered

I took a series of photos here in Milford Sound about three years ago during the best sunset I have ever seen there. Just amazing! I processed a few back then, but then been hanging on to the others for a “rainy day.” That rainy day was just a few Sundays ago, so I made this!

The making-of-video for The Cotton Candy Fjord

Here’s my making-of video where I show off a few techniques and show how to bring balance to the final photo.

Daily Photo – The Cotton Candy Fjord

I believe this is the night I met Glenn Guy. He just happened to be hanging out here taking photos and he came over to say hello. He couldn’t have been a nicer guy and we hit it off right away!
