Another crisp autumn day invites another exploratory walk to a new destination. I’m incredibly fortunate to have so many diverse landscapes within easy walking distance of home. One of the things I treasure most about New Zealand is the sheer variety of trees, each species transforming into its unique autumn hues at slightly different times.
This sunset was captured on Koh Samui. We ventured to the other side from where we were staying to see the fishermen, initially planning to stay by the docks. However, the calm shallow waters just ten minutes away caught my eye, and I spent the next half hour wading knee-deep, observing the boats, fishermen, and oyster-pickers in their element.
On this day we had all sorts of shenanigans trying to stealthily use the tripods and 360 cameras. A successful mission in the end, I think.

The mind can be such a strange thing. I was browsing my photos to find one to share today and was sure from the thumbnail that this was a drone shot but nope. Ground based Sony. You’d think, being I was there, that I’d remember that but no!
Day 1 of the hike brought us to this stunning spot. Pretty amazing, right? These mountaintop lakes are called tarns, formed when glaciers carve out small hollows in the landscape. Rain and snow replenish these tarns throughout the year, creating an extra element in these breathtaking scenes.
Taken with one of my Pixel phones a few years back. Just to be clear, I’m not getting paid to promote this Google phone! I genuinely enjoy using it and sharing pictures taken with it. While it might not be as powerful as my Sony(s), most people wouldn’t notice a difference in the photos. Certainly, not on social media anyway. I really should update my Pixel review now that I’m on the 7 Pro. I think it was the 5 last time I tweaked it.
During our epic USA road trip, we detoured to White Sands National Park, where we captured a breathtaking sunset. That’s my buddy Jonatas hauling a tripod and PD bag, while we reveled in an unforgettable evening. Having already braved the Burning Man madness with him multiple times, exploring this unique desert landscape together was a refreshing adventure!
Besides Rabat and Casablanca, this coastal Moroccan town (Essaouira) captivated me with its vibrant nautical scene. Every boat, from tiny vessels to larger ones in the distance, is painted with a striking blue, creating a fantastical spectacle. This voluntary tradition, not a government mandate, adds a unique charm to the harbor, as everyone paints their boats to contribute to the collective beauty.
While at my friend Tom’s place in the Hollywood Hills, we hiked a nearby trail overlooking the city. Zooming in on downtown LA, I captured this shot. Whether fog, cloud, smog, or a mix, it created a lucky and beautiful effect!
