50 Beautiful Cities

Hey awesome blog reader… you’ll probably be aware that I’ve been delving into the world of NFTs in the past few months. So far, it’s been both a success and an interesting adventure. That continues today with my 2nd drop on OpenSea. This set of NFTs is based around 50 of my favorite cities spanning all seven continents. There are a wide range of configurations (and prices) available and I’d love it if you’d check them out. If you thought an NFT mixed with physical art was odd last time then how about several NFTs, wrapped in an NFT… mixed with some Aave tokens which should appreciate over time??!

The first drop on OpenSea did better than expected and broke $100,000USD in the first three days. This second one already has a lot of interest as more and more collectors are getting into the NFT world. Jump on in! I’ll make a detailed video soon that talks more about what I’ve learned, mistakes I’ve made, some new ideas, and other interesting stuff from this wild wild west of cryptofun.

Also, if you’re an NFT curious artist, be sure to sign up for Passport where I’ve been sharing videos about my NFT experience so far. If you’re thinking about listing your own, you may find those helpful. Speaking of your own NFTs, I’m now starting to invest back into other projects so if you launch something cool tag me on Twitter and I’ll be sure to take a look. ๐Ÿ™‚

Preparing for the Santiago

Daily Photo – Preparing for the Santiago

Here’s our group of winsome travelers before we begin the 100km hike from Portugal to Santiago. We were a very slow moving group, and that’s just the way we liked it. One of the surprises of the trip was how mediocre the food was. I was fully expecting to have amazing tapas everywhere!

Gaudi’s Masterpiece

Great Interview with Jason Silva and Erik Davis

Daily Photo – Gaudi’s Masterpiece

We were lucky to get a little bonus access to the Sagrada Familia and were able to get into the upper floors. These are quite hidden from the ground level and I never would have known they were there otherwise. I didn’t have to do anything special to get access, just a bit of planning ahead of time with their PR team.

Machine Elf 78 – You Are Here | Words by Mooji (and the First Day of the Santiago with Kevin Kelly)

Here’s the first Machine Elf creation where I layer in a beautiful meditation from Mooji, one of my favorites at the art of a good mind-freeing session. Mooji is always quite relaxing and can help you stay zen when life gets a little too much. This is one of the more organic creations that is based on some different hidden symbology I’ve seen here in New Zealand.

Daily Photo – First Day of the Santiago with Kevin Kelly

A few years ago I decided to walk the Camino with Kevin Kelly and a great group of people. On day one, we assembled here in Portugal right by the bridge that crosses into Spain. We had not even gotten started yet, and then we all decided to take a rest! ๐Ÿ™‚ The walk may have had more talking and resting than walking, and that’s okay with me too!

The Angels Watched Over Me But Only Gave me Octopus

Comparison of the new Sony A1 with my camera

When Sony announces a new camera and I explore the specs in the press release, it’s honestly too much for me to assess compared to my currently Address a7R Mark 3, so I use this site to compare the two. After seeing this, the only advantage I would actually use is the 8 extra megapixels. There are other good features, but I honestly would not use the difference… I don’t need to shoot 30FPS and the higher video specs are not useful to me, so I’ll just stick with what I have! ๐Ÿ™‚

Daily Photo – The Angels Watched Over Me But Only Gave me Octopus

At the very end of the trail of the Santiago de Compostela, we ended up at the famous cathedral where all pilgrims finish their quest. Now, I’m not religious in the slightest, but that’s the same as many people that do the walk across Europe. It’s more of a journey of the self or whatever. Anyway, if there were these angels watching over me to keep me safe, and if they do have more power, I would have appreciated some better food along the way. I was super excited to eat all this amazing Spanish food, but everywhere just kind of served the same basic kind of food… and I could not go a meal without having an octopus tentacle on my plate.

Gaudi’s Masterpiece

New Deep Fake Comedy

Those guys from South Park have made a new comedy that uses Deep Fake tech to re-create Trump, Zuckerberg, and a ton more… super funny…

Daily Photo – Gaudi’s Masterpiece

I kind of wish I had a wide-angle lens for this photo, but I had a new Hasselblad and I only had a limited number of lenses. But, that’s okay because it forced me to find the most interesting thing to fit inside of that rectangle. You may notice that it has a 3:2 ratio, which is the default for the Hasselblad (I believe). I kept it in that original ratio rather than re-cropping it.

Colors of Gaudi

Daily Photo – Colors of Gaudi

This guy was quite the visionary to design all of this in his mind. It’s too bad he never got to see it in person. They’re still building the cathedral and I think it’s gonna be another 20 years or so. When you’re inside, however, it looks to be almost 100% complete. The first time I went I didn’t even realize you could go inside, so I missed that opportunity. I don’t know why I didn’t at least go and ask… that’s not like me.

Early Morning on the Camino

Daily Photo – Early Morning on the Camino

Every day we would wake up before sunrise (not my favorite thing) to begin our long walk from Portugal to Spain along the Camino. There were 10 of us on the adventure, and we would usually pair up into random twos and have all sorts of conversations. We all mostly talked about science and philosophy, but we also talked about a bunch of really dumb things too!

Finding a Restaurant in Ibiza

Daily Photo – Finding a Restaurant in Ibiza

Ibiza has an old medieval area that is surrounded by old fortified walls. Inside, there are all sorts of restaurants and cool nooks and crannies. This is my favorite time of night to shoot, when there is a mixture of ambient and artificial light. Unfortunately, it’s also the time when I’m usually eating dinner… which means I spend over 50% of dinner away from the table and wandering about with my camera!

Thanks again to all you awesome Passport Members!

Today you’ll get to see a fairly radical edit and how I pushed this airport photo into an unexpected direction. Enjoy!

Editing of the Barcelona Airport Shot

I decided to go quite high-key with this one and ramp up the reflection aspect of the photo. There are a few other tiny little tricks I did in here that you can learn for your photos as well!

Daily Photo – The Barcelona Airport

Man, I wish all airports had these super-reflective floors. Wouldn’t that be amazing? It’s not like I’m spending much time in airports any more… but maybe while no one is in them, it would be cool if all airports swapped out their floors for mirrors.
