I read a lot of tech news to kind of stay abreast of that stuff because I find it interesting. Obviously, I use a lot of tech day-to-day so I like it to be as efficient and “fun” as possible. And there’s all this news about emojis lately. I use like three emojis, max. And seeing all this news makes me feel like I don’t even come close. I guess I don’t text chat enough with my phone? Anyway, I found this article about how different companies make the same emojis in different ways to be quite interesting!
We spent less than 24 hours here, but I did all I could to get as many regular and quad photos as possible. There are five little towns there in Cinque Terre, and this one was my favorite, Manarola. They had these colorful umbrellas all huddled together in the grey streets. It was pretty cloudy here, so the colors didn’t pop as much as they would in the sunlight, but I think it still looks pretty good. Sunlight may have even been overkill on the pop.
Hey I’m a big Thor: Ragnorak fan. It’s basically a comedy and Taika Waititi changed the whole formula around. One of my favorite characters was Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. They’ve started to release all the scenes that were cut from the final movie. Here’s one of them!
I predict that the vast majority of people that see this would agree this looks like a magical place to visit… or even live! You definitely get your legs a daily workout going up and down these hills to eat Italian food and drink Italian coffee. And if you go uphill and downhill enough, you can even get a bit of Italian dessert!
It’s always a pain to carry around a quadcopter with you, but worth it when you have the right conditions. I did this with the Phantom 4, but I’ve thought about getting the smaller one to make it more convenient. My friend used his with me in Barcelona, and it was pretty much just as good. Well, I’ll wait a little while before I decide… I feel like DJI announces like 5 new products a year, so something else big may be coming out soon!
Take a look at some of the new features in Aurora HDR 2018, including the rather cool HDR Details Boost sliders.
This is an area I would certainly like to return to for an extended period. It’s so beautiful and peaceful around here. And the food… oh the food. I mean, you pretty much can’t go wrong with Italian food anywhere, but this is the kind of small-town place where it is extra authentic… Okay, I need to finish this post now because it’s starting to make me kind of hungry!

I’m constantly debating about switching over to Google Drive. I don’t really have a compelling reason yet… Dropbox works perfectly. Sometimes I will use Google Drive to send very large files, however. We upgraded to the corporate Dropbox account, so now the entire team has a massive amount of storage. It’s a bit expensive, I suppose, but not the end of the world.
During our never-ending European tour, we saw many different coastlines. Yesterday’s shot from France was preceded by this one in Italy. This was taken in Cinque Terre, looking out into the stormy sea. There was a rain storm coming in and I was mesmerized by all the moody blues. Not long after this, I got in a few final shots of the city in the pouring rain. You can see the one I got if you click on the Cinque Terre category.
I wonder what it would be like to live in a place like this? Would you get tired of it, or would you get tired of it after a few months or years? I don’t know how you could get tired of it (well,me, not being a city-guy)! Plus, every day italian food? I mean, it’s all they have, so that really takes away the guilt factor.
How much fun are quadcopters in places like this? Too much fun! It’s almost like you can’t take a bad shot. I was wishing I had those new goggles from DJI you can wear so I could do everything from a first-person perspective. I normally fly with a spotter beside me while I stare at the screen. It works great except daytime flying often has a massive glare on the screen. I think those goggles are going to be radical!
I recommend getting an outside table at Nessun Dorma here in Manirola. This is basically the view from the restaurant! Well, it’s a little bit higher, but more or less… go there and order a bunch of food a spritzer drinks and enjoy several hours of one of the most beautiful views in the world.
It’s hard to say where my favorite stop was during our 55-day photo tour in Europe. This area of Italy is easily in the top 10, though. I’ve always wanted to visit this place, so we decided to make it happen! There are 5 small towns here embedded into the coastline of Italy. You can hike between all 5 or take a little train that connects all of them. We decided to take the train to cover as much ground as possible. I have a lot more photos to share from the area, but wanted to get the Cinque Terre party started early with this one!
