Randomness in Macau
Tim Chang on Kevin Rose
Here’s another reminder to listen to Tim Chang on the Kevin Rose show. That guy is amazing… I’m not often inspired, but he definitely inspires me.
Daily Photo – Randomness in Macau
On our only day in Macau, we went to the old Portuguese sector to explore and take photos. At the top of this stairway, this random girl appeared while carrying a massive amount of luggage. To me, she was clearly lost and pretending that she knew where she was going. I know this look because I am often also lost but I don’t want people to think I’m an idiot. But, in this case, she was clearly not near any sort of hotel and in the middle of a tourist area. Anyway, I happened to catch this shot of her with all her stuff.

Macau Gambling
Next time I go to Macau, I want to learn more about some of these crazy casino games they have. I’m a big math guy, so I always enjoy learning these games and figuring them out. But they had some of the strangest games they concocted… it might be fun to spend a week there and learn and try to master a different game every day.

I only got to spend one day in Macau, but I tried to use all the time I could to get the drone up for some shots. Macau is a really unique Chinese city because of all the original colonial Portuguese settlers. All these city streets in the old part of the town looked pretty much exactly like their counterparts in Portugal.

Crash Course in Trucks
Well, it turns out to be a rather complex thing to rent a truck big enough to tow a fifth wheel. I did not anticipate this when I got a fifth wheel, but now it’s becoming quite clear. Like, for example, I can’t find anyone that rents these in Reno. Anyway, I’m working on other solutions coming up to Burning Man, but I’m learning a lot about heavy trucks!

Isn’t this a cool building? Before going here to Macau (the gambling capital of China just near Hong Kong) I never would have recognized this city as Macau. I’m fairly well-traveled and have seen a lot of cities, but, as a photographer, I’ve seen more photos of cities that I’ve never been to. For some reason, this uniquely shaped building has always missed my radar.
