Here’s another one of the thousands of photos I got in Toronto. It’s such a cool skyline and pretty much every sunset was epic. See that sky tower thing? I forgot what it was called. Maybe Sky Tower. Anyway, my first time here I did a walk around the outside… that was pretty trippy but totally fun!
One of the best views of Toronto is from a place called Central Island where you can grab a little ferry for cheap. This particular day was actually pretty rough because most of the island was flooded, meaning we spent most of the shoot ankle deep in water and mud.

You’ll notice I call Mark “Mark” during the show because I’ve always found his name confusing. The dramatic end of the show has an amazing finale where we talk about Tiger King and then Harriett busts out her Lion Queen mane. Creepy dudes that are into cam girls with hair rollers will be really excited about that.
I guess the word Notre-Dame is sort of in the public domain since apparently anyone can name their cathedral after it. It just means “Your Mother,” which is kind of a strange thing to name something anyway. I mean, it’s quite bold to say that this building is your mother when it’s clearly not. I mean, I get the idea… Catholics like to replace your actual mother with the Virgin Mary, which also doesn’t make any sense, and not only because she’s a virgin. The whole thing is just weird when you think about it.

We took a boat over to Center Island (not the best name, Toronto) to get a view of the city at sunset. The island has had a lot of flooding lately, and getting over to the prime photo spots required getting ankle-deep in mud and muck. Toronto has the Adirondack chairs all over the place. I guess it’s one of the “things” about that city. Anyway, a lot of them were stuck out in the flooding zone. This island is also popular for Asian wedding photos (we saw about a dozen couples out there). This groom-to-be was getting in position for one of their photos…
I wonder. Do they hire interior decorators to design cathedrals? I mean, I guess they must, right? They don’t get a bunch of priests and nuns to sketch out something in MSPaint. But then, I was trying to imagine, if I was a guy that was building a cathedral, who exactly would I contact to design a backdrop like this? Just not sure… these are the things I think about.
Abstract! Watch it… the new season is out now. It’s a show all about art and design and I find it rather inspiring.
I’m not ashamed to go get photos from the obvious places in cities! Montreal backs onto this mountain/hill place. I’m not really sure if it qualifies as a small mountain or a big hill. Either way, there’s a perfect vantage point up there for photos of the beautiful city.
When photographing new cities, I often randomly walk from bridge to bridge to see what I can find in terms of new perspectives. Most of the time, it’s a total bummer. But when you jump on Google Maps, you can often find bridges that go over railways. That’s usually a guaranteed winner situation because it makes for amazing leading lines the head towards an epic skyline… and it’s hard to do better than the skyline of Toronto.
I saw this article on Reddit about an abandoned city in Iran and thought it was super interesting. I’ve seen a few of these around the world… it’s usually the fault of government corruption.
We ended up in a fairly funny situation in Toronto. I had marked a spot on the map where I wanted to go take sunset photos in at the end of the dock. Curtis and I went there on our final night to get shots, but we did not realize that Caribana Toronto was going on. This is basically a huge street party for people in Toronto of the Caribbean descent. Man, it was wild. I can promise you we were the only two whities for miles… I looked so nerdy and white walking around with my camera. They were trying to figure out what the heck I was doing there! But, most of them were super drunk or high so they were super happy and nice… I was quite welcomed by the Carribean community in Toronto, so thanks everyone! 🙂
Not until the final two days there did I make it to the charming old town area of Montreal. The area wasn’t very big, but it was quite picturesque. I think you can walk most of it in less than 20 minutes, but pretty much every angle and corner was photo-worthy. We also ended up eating at a few different places around here and had an all-around blast. What a cool city… I gotta go back! )

This organ is one of the only organs the Catholics are allowed to touch and look at during services. I have all sorts of ways I poke fun at the Catholics… probably because I went to an all-boy Jesuit school for four years where they tried to brainwash me. But, it didn’t work! However, having just poked more fun at them, I do actually have a decent amount of respect for the Jesuits. They at least have a lot of critical thought and philosophy that makes up the backbone of their teachings. There are a few logical fallacies here and there where it breaks down for me. But hey, that’s just me. I want to go back and do some DMT with some of my old teachers to see what they think.
