Quadcopters Pt.2
Daily Photo – Quadcopters Pt.2
The DJI Phantom was my first drone and I’ve had a bunch of others along the way. One which stands out was the Inspire, a huge monster of a quadcopter which had a cool articulated/motorised thing going on when you switched from take-off to flight mode. It was awesome to see. At that point it was looking like quality meant size but more recently DJI have done awesome work in making tiny drones. This is a shot from my Mini 3 Pro which weighs just 249g or something crazy like that!
Quadcopters… not drones.

This is one of those situations where people seem to have a weird irrational reaction to a word. You almost always get a more positive reaction/conversation with people when you talk about quadcopter compared to drone. People are weird. Anyway, regardless of what you want to call them they are awesome, and it really unlocked a bunch of composition options when I moved to my first DJI model back in 2012 or so. Back then there was a bit of guess work involved where you had to attach a GoPro and then send the quadcopter up in the air to capture the images without any real way of knowing what you’d captured until you viewed the results on the device. Here’s one such image from Beijing. Shortly before I spent a little time in Chinese prison…

Continuing the roundup of top posts across my social media, here’s the top of the pile from Facebook and that platform delivers something more along the lines of what I expected, a shot from Scotland. It’s not one of my top 5 that I most like, but hey, that’s ok. I guess people really like fairytale like castles from the far northeast coast. 🙂
Number 6
Daily Photo – Number 6
I thought it’d be fun to go through what turned out to be my top content on social media for the year and that continues today. Mainly I’ll focus on Instagram but I’ll drop in a few others towards the end as when they get traction (e.g. Flickr) the stats go crazy. So, here’s number 6 in my most viewed posts of 2023… does that make them the BEST? Not so sure, but for whatever reason they connected with people, or the algorithm!
