Bridge of Doom in Venice – Stuck in Customs

Bridge of Doom in Venice

Daily Photo – Bridge of Doom in Venice

This is one of the most hated bridges in Venice. It’s a Calatrava design and a lot of the surface is made of glass. It gets super-slippery in the rain and people topple over the edge into the canal sometimes. I can’t imagine that happening, but I can attest to it being almost frictionless. I mean the guard rails are pretty big, but I guess if you’re tall and have a high center of gravity, I suppose I could see it happening. Actually, I’d LOVE to see it happen to my friend Rene, as long as he didn’t get hurt. Believe it or not, Rene did actually fall in the canal in the middle of the night by himself. There may have been drinking involved, but we can’t really say that was the sole cause… it’s all hilarious to me only because he wasn’t hurt at all. But, he could have died for sure… I woke up in the morning to an email that said, “I fell in the canal.” I couldn’t stop laughing…
