Double Rainbow

Daily Photo – Double Rainbow

Waiheke Island is full of lovely, peaceful areas with calming views. On this day, nature decided to ramp things up to another level and throw in a double rainbow just for fun. Thanks nature!

The Cook Expansion

Daily Photo – The Cook Expansion

I mentioned the upcoming NZ photography workshop in yesterday’s post. One thing I’m thinking about for this one is heading out a little wider, away from Queenstown where we spend most of the time usually, to areas like Mount Cook / Aoraki and Lake Tekapo. Should make for some awesome mini adventures. You can see more about the workshop here. (Only a couple of places remain.)

NZ Workshop

I’m having my first New Zealand workshop since Covid! Hard to believe some people have been booked in since 2019 waiting for all the pandemic craziness to pass. We’re pretty much sold out, maybe a couple of spaces left, so if you’ve always wanted to come to NZ, this is a fun way to do it! This is a new photo I just processed from near my home where we took a workshop a few years ago. This is Aro-Ha. I had an idea to combine my love of yoga and hiking with photography… I thought, hell no one is gonna sign up for this thing. That’s a weird Venn Diagram overlap. But I was wrong. It totally sold out and we had a great time. This one that we’re having April of 2024 is not like that one… it’s all photography, all the time and I’m planning some cool trips that we’ve never done before with other NZ workshop participants. Grab one of the last few spots here!

Detours in NZ

Daily Photo – Detours in NZ

The Clay Cliffs take a little bit of a drive (30 mins out of the way from Omarama) on the way from Christchurch to Queenstown, but they are really worth it. There is just a short hike to get this view, and you can even get up in there and walk around inside. It’s enchanting, and you may recognize these from a few scenes in LOTR.

The Opposite

Daily Photo – The Opposite

The calmness of this scene from near here in Queenstown does not reflect the recent weather AT ALL. Landslides, floods… and a cryptosporidium outbreak to top it off (fortunately, I’ve not experienced that!). Hopefully normal awesome NZ life will resume soon. 🙂

The Shapes and Textures of Wakatipu

Daily Photo – The Shapes and Textures of Wakatipu

Sometimes you spend ages finding a shot and sometimes things just align as if they were always meant to be that way…

Edinburgh of the South

Daily Photo – Edinburgh of the South

Been down in Dunedin for some eye stuff and it reminded me of this shot from the coast down there… and that this is another one of those links between Scotland and NZ. The name Dunedin comes from Dùn Èideann, the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh…

Life Admin

Daily Photo – Life Admin

Settling back into the studio after essentially being on the road since May is great but also filled with realisation of how stuff somehow needs to be attended to… Windows updates. Cleaning (somehow!), life admin… but then the fun creative stuff can begin again. Yay! Big plans are a cookin’.

Unexploring Auckland

Daily Photo – Unexploring Auckland

Next up on the 3 day trek home… Auckland. Which reminds me that I really need to go there and spend a good week or so exploring. I’m there often but 99% of the time it’s basically a hub to use for exit/entry to NZ. So this is about the only image I’ve processed from there. That needs to change!
