During the drive to Skye, Stu and I would pull over every so often for a short break, stretch our legs and throw the quad up in the air to see what could be seen. Here’s one of the views we found, during a particularly changeable weather period.
The landscape of Skye, especially on the north and east coasts was fascinating. As the land slips towards the sea, it creates so many interesting shapes, just like this one…
Here’s another view of Loch Ailort on that moody day where the water went a wild green colour. Stu tells me that normally it is slate grey, or bright blue if it’s super sunny but on this morning the conditions created something quite different!
I took this on an awesome road trip around the west coast and Skye with my friend Stu. What an awesome evening this was!
On this particular day on Skye, Stu and I probably hiked for 3-4 hours… and then an extra 1.5 hours because of a… errrr… let’s say an “unplanned landing” of the drone.
I was flying around, and I didn’t realize how windy it was. Nor was I wind-aware enough to realize the return home was 180 degrees EXACTLY into that stiff wind. So, when the battery warning came, I told it to return home… started to relax… and I was looking at the screen thinking… hrmmm… that scene is not changing much. And then I noticed it was getting 1 meter closer every 10 seconds and I still had a significant way to go. This wasn’t good. So, jammed it into sport mode to try to fight the wind harder, but, to no avail… it declared an emergency landing in a rather treacherous area, but Stu and I went on a cross-country (mosty uphill) adventure to find and recover it… We found it, and all was right in the world again… then once again we got back after midnight.
