Daily Photo – The Hippo of San Antonio
I believe the special projection unit they use here is called The Hippo. From my basic understanding, they make a 3D projection-mapping of the surface upon which they are about to project, then make the appropriate extrapolations so they can project “flatly” onto it. There’s some mondo math going on there, but the effect is absolutely sensational. I did my humble best to try to capture it with a photo, but you can see it in action (briefly) in the video above! 🙂
