New Zealand from Above

I recently took two trips around the entire South island of New Zealand. My son, Ethan, did this thing called Outward Bound and I went to drop him off in Picton, which is at the northern tip of the south island. And then, after three weeks, I went back to pick him up! Anyway, here's some of the stuff I saw... If you want to know more about what kind of equipment I use you can check out my whole kit at Kit.com/TreyRatcliff - Thanks to Stu Davidson for helping me to edit this together!

Trey's 10th Annual Burning Man Photowalk!

i-GbsGJgL.jpg Hi Friends!!! I'll see you Wednesday night at 7:30 PM just outside of Center Camp for my 10th Annual Burning Man Photowalk! This event is great if you're totally new to photography or like mega-advanced. There's lots of inspiration... tips... tricks... advice... philosophy... hugs... love... all that good stuff! :)

We'll start off from Center Camp and then end up at the Pink Heart camp where my friend Curtis Simmons is getting playa-married. After that, we'll end up back at my camp (Camp Walter) around 9:30 or 10 PM where we are hosting a speakeasy. Join us for that too!

P.S. Here's my Burning Man Survival Guide.

Reminder: The Text HDR Tutorial is Always Free!

I keep a completely FREE HDR Tutorial on my website. It is a living document that continues to evolve over the years. It goes over everything you need to get started and is a great introduction to the basics of HDR photography and post processing.

Some recent photos from StuckInCustoms.com

Fun in New York
We received an amazing invite from some friends from New Zealand to visit their apartment in New York to take some photos one evening. It was in a very unique location, and one of my favorite things about this angle is that it doesn’t even look like New York!

The Party Tree in Hobbiton
It's been a few years since I have been to Matamata on the North Island and seeing these photos make me want to return. The farmers that originally owned (and still manage) the Hobbiton Movie Set have always been very generous and kind to me, so I try to repay them with as many photos as possible. In a way, this is an easy task, since it's impossible to take a bad photo there.

Notre-Dame in Montreal
What an amazing cathedral! I've been to A LOT of these sorts of places, and this probably has the most beautiful backdrop of any I've seen. I hope you find it just as beautiful as I did!

Phoenix City, China
The ancient town of Fenghuang in China. This was not an easy place to get to and required a long and bumpy drive from the closest airport. As you can see, it was definitely worth the long journey... I basically spent all day taking photos, drawing, and eating... it was a great few days!

Max Patte's Horses at The Hills
We had a wonderful time strolling around The Hills during our photo workshop. I really enjoy seeing how excited people are when they see the unique art and sculptures spread around the course. Here, you can see one of my new besties out with these incredible horses that were designed and built by Max Patte.

Exploring Vienna
The kind of art that was in this museum was not incredibly exciting to me, but the museum itself was beautiful. This one is the easy-to-pronounce Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. You know how sometimes you're in a city for a while and you keep saying the same word over and over again. And then, you FINALLY figure out what the word means just as soon as you leave the city? Yeah, well I saw that word "Wien" everywhere. I then felt dumb when I figured out that's the Austrian name for Vienna.
