Unboxing the Peak Design Travel Tripod

i-RwmQL9P.jpgI promise this is the last email update about this new tripod on Kickstarter. It’s really blowing off the barn doors with almost $4 million raised so far. That team at Peak Design is really kicking ass!

I know a lot of you got the bags I co-designed with them a few years ago and you can attest to the quality. I realize some Kickstarters can be a little sketchy, but these Peak Design guys always overdeliver.

Here’s a video I made that shows off a little more about this slick new travel tripod!

The tripod took years to design and perfect

I was fortunate to work closely with the Peak Design team on their first camera bag and was really impressed with everyone. They're an uber-talented group of creative and artistic designers and engineers. And it shows in their innovative product designs, thoughtful little add-ons and world-class build quality. One of the product designers, Art Viger, recently shared a sketch he made in early 2014 based on the idea for the tripod by Peak Design founder, Peter Dering, had more than 11 years ago. The team spent more than 4 years designing and perfecting this new tripod and the result is outstanding!

Tell me more about the specs!

Many of you have been asking me for more info on the specs. You can see the basic deets below and you can visit the Kickstarter page for all of the nuanced details. And yes, it can handle your beefy DSLR and big lenses too!
