Aerial highlights from our Photo Walk Across the USA

We made a special highlight reel featuring what we captured during our tour of the USA. We used the the DJI Phantom 3 and Inspire 1. I hope you love it as much as we do... See more over on the Tour Highlights Page.

Thanks again to Ollie Dale from Virtually Famous for helping us piece this together.

Phantom 4 Review

Here’s a video review of this amazing quadcopter!

DJI makes a couple of consumer-freindly quadcopters. The first is the Phantom, and that is what this review covers, but you can also check out my DJI Inspire Review. What people often ask is, "Which one should I get?" I generally recommend the Phantom 4 series over the Inspire series. It's much more convenient, which is a big thing for me.

Here are the main pros:

  • The Phantom is smaller and lighter

  • The Phantom 4 has collision detection, which is pretty sweet!

  • The Phantom 4 fits in a cool carrying case in which it's shipped.

  • The Phantom is quicker to set up and launch. I can get it out of the case and into the air in less than 4 minutes. The Inspire can take forever, especially if you have to raise it up and attach the camera.

  • The Phantom is quicker to pack-up. I can break it down and get it in the backpack in under 2 minutes.

  • The Phantom has the same camera by default as the much bigger Inspire

  • The Phantom is easier to travel with, as the Inspire has literally its own bulky suitcase (that has no wheels even!)

    Quadcopter Setup 101

I gave a Phantom 3 to a 13-year-old friend and taught him how to use it. We broadcast the whole thing on Facebook Live. I thought others might like to see the basics too.

We start with putting together the quadcopter, getting it ready for launch, and the basics of the app and control. We also did a quick flight, landed it, then disassembled it to put back in the backpack.

Jumping off boats, Live streaming, and Quadcopters... what could go wrong?

Part 2 from our party boat on Sydney Harbour where David does a backflip off the yacht into the cold shark infested waters.

    Skyfall Venice

    All Venice, all from above.

People seemed to enjoy my previous all-aerial videos from around the world... but the Venice shots were maybe some of the best, eh? So I decided to make an all-Venice one that included some other favorite shots!

You can watch the other all-aerial videos over on my Youtube Channel. is a personal blog where Trey puts up a new unique photo every day and writes about the art, the technology, and the story of the adventures. Actually, this is Trey writing about this in third person. Both Trey and I appreciate your support very much!
