A new bag from Peak Design - this time, just what I need, a TRAVEL BAG!

This new Travel Backpack is different from their previous bags because it moves away from being camera-centric into your main bag for travel. The best thing about this new bag is the versatility in that you can smash a ton of stuff in there (organized or unorganized) and then slim it up after arrival to use as an everyday bag.

I point out "Organized or Unorganized" because that really appeals to me, since this dichotomy describes me perfectly. I often start out a trip very, very organized. Everything is in its place. It's like building a dollhouse for grown-ups. But then, despite my grand plans to stay organized, entropy sets in, and things get a little messy. I like that it's more and more like a duffel bag.

Right after Burning Man, I have a 100km hike coming up in Spain on the famous Camino trail. This will be the perfect addition to the trip. I'm already daydreaming about how I will pack it. I'm racked with certainty and uncertainty, packing this new travel bag is like a microcosm of my life.

On other trips, I like the idea of packing a bunch of stuff and watching it bloat up with goodies. Then, after I get to the hotel, I can leave a lot of the stuff in the room, slim up the bag and use it as a camera bag.

There are a ton of little details I love. For example, the toiletries kit you can hang in your bathroom. Smart. I like that tech pouch too... it'll hold all those little annoying things you have to carry around. Oh, and I like that small Camera Cube as well... fitting my Mavic kit perfectly. And you can pack away the backpack straps so they're not flapping around out there. Anyway, I could go on and on!
