London calling!

London Photo Walk this Saturday, May 13, 2017

We're almost halfway through our 40-day European tour and it's been amazing so far! We've just stopped in Normandy to take some photos on our way to magnificent London and we're about to embark on our first water crossing on the party bus! Now if we can just figure out how to get this thing on a ferry...

The London Photo Walk is on Saturday, May 13, and it is shaping up to be the biggest event on the tour so far. Remember, all are welcome, from newbies to pros. Check out the details (and RSVP) on the London Photo Walk page.

I am also excited about London because it could be the launch point for the grand jury winner of our 80 Stays Photo Contest. This contest is open to EVERYONE and the trophy is an all-expenses paid trip to my New Zealand Photo Adventure, courtesy of Air New Zealand. So this October, the big winner might just be taking off on a big Air New Zealand bird from Heathrow.

20% off the London workshop ends soon!

London will be twice the fun because I've set aside an entire day for my intimate Becoming an Artist workshop. We've held these special one-day workshops in several other locations around the world and now it's London's turn. If you're a little bit of a dreamer (like me) or you're simply wanting to get to know the finer details of Lightroom, Photoshop, Aurora HDR, and Photomatix, then this workshop is for you.

The 20% early-bird discount ends soon so register now before it's sold out. To learn more check out the Becoming an Artist Workshop page.

A cold few days in Paris

Despite the impending rain and the election, we were happily surprised with how many people joined us on the Photo Walk in Paris, and of course, the "city of love" didn't disappoint. In the pre-walk Facebook Live we met people from all over, some as far as Australia! Even my good friend Serge Ramelli and his family came for the evening! :)

If you didn't catch the Photo Walk while it was live, check it out below, where we are in the second half of the walk headed towards our end meeting point, the Louvre. (Also watch out for the Hasselblad guy time-traveling from 1916! Crazy!)

Street Photography Tips from the Streets of Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon was the first stop in our tour of across Europe and it did not disappoint. We had a big enthusiastic crowd show up for the photo walk. Along the way I provided some tips for Street photography. I hope you enjoy and learn something new!

Amsterdam and Berlin are on the horizon

The weekend after London we will have two Photo Walks back-to-back! On Friday, May 19, we will be Photo Walking in Amsterdam. Then we hop over to Germany for the Berlin Photo Walk on Saturday, May 20.

After each Photo Walk (free) is an after party (requires a ticket). Tickets are remaining for the Amsterdam and Berlin after parties, but they are selling fast! The London after party sold out quickly, so get your tickets soon!

Here are some of my favorite photos from Spain, France, and Italy

During the Milan Photo Walk
Here's a photo taken during the Milan photo walk a few evenings ago. This is a vertirama made from two different vertically stacked photos. I stitched them together in Lightroom then ran them through sweet Aurora HDR.
The Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Here's the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II at dusk in Milan. I took this at the very, very, very end of the photo walk when all the lights finally came on. Thanks again everyone for coming out... we're working on the highlight video now!
The Swiss Alps
We took the FlixBus through the Swiss Alps on the way to Paris.
Geneva in the rain
Here's the old town part of Geneva in the rain. I love shooting these European cities in the rain. This is an HDR made from two different photos.
La tour Eiffel
It's been a little cold in Paris these last few days, but it's never too cold to go out and take photos of the Eiffel Tower!
Paused on the Champs-Élysées
Yesterday, the team sat at a table on the sidewalk of the Champs-Élysées in Paris for a few hours eating bread, cheese, pizza, and wine while watching people walk by. I took about 150 photos... most of them were no good, but this was one of the winners. Some of the best people-watching in the world here!
Hotel de la Paix Geneva
Just got to Geneva, Switzerland and on the way to Paris for the photo walk and stopped here for the night in front of Mont-Blanc in the Swiss Alps at the @hoteldelapaix. Here’s the view downward into the lobby... Escheresque!
J'aime le Mont Saint-Michel!
Here's a photo from the sunset here in Normandy. We had high hopes of going up into the castle to find some pizza. An advance party went up and explored all around but everything was closed, so we went back to the bus for some toasties and games. My hot travel tip if you come here is to book one of the few hotels inside the castle-monastery and eat early.
