Apple Is Dead To Me… I’m Switching To Windows!

I converted to Apple over 5 years ago when it was clear to me Apple made the best products for creative professionals. I loved Apple and became a hardcore fanboy. I was all-in. Now, I’m switching back to PCs. The new line of MacBook Pros are not-that-awesome. Apple has always been a company that makes beautiful, well-designed products (and still does), but they’ve started to put an emphasis on sleek design form over professional function.

Why am I switching from a Mac to a PC?

I need a more powerful machine that can handle a LOT. I doubt I’m the only creative professional in this situation. Nowadays, my camera’s RAW files are bigger (I use a Hasselblad X1D, but my MacBook was still choking with my Sony A7Rii files), and I do a lot of video work as well. I simply need a workhorse. It’s too bad that Apple has chosen not to care so much about the creative professional; we were the ones that got them through the lean years. Oh well…

Unboxing the Beast

Nothing better than unboxing a new toy! I also advise not using a corkscrew to unbox anything… even though I’ve probably done it over a dozen times, I haven’t improved.

My Crazy Trip Around The World - San Juan and St Thomas

We headed over to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean to finish off our mammoth family trip

We had an awesome time in San Juan. The beaches and hotel, like the rest of the trip, were great but in this location we had the added bonus of some historic architecture and an overall unique character for the whole place.

Ahh... Saint Thomas, what a great place to end our whirlwind adventure around the world... 60 days with the family is no small feat to maintain one's camera equipment and sanity. I gave myself a new photo challenge here in St. Thomas - hope you enjoy. Oh, and I faced one of my greatest phobias: Night Snorkelling!

Just a few spots left on a photography adventure in Lisbon, Portugal!

Explore the ancient City of the Sea, April 15 - 20, 2017

Every year I personally take a small group of people to an exotic location for a Photo Adventure... Venice, Namibia, Paris, Tokyo, London, New Zealand and now Lisbon. This photo adventure in Portugal will be incredible and FULL of SURPRISES just like all the others!

I custom-design these trips to exceed everyone's expectations and I believe so far we have! My idea of "roughing it" is slow room service, so we stay in luxurious accommodations, we eat amazing food, we drink fine wine, we gain access to exclusive and secret spots, most of the time while laughing and having the time of our lives!

We're excited about this adventure because not only will we be exploring Lisbon and the coastal areas but we're staying at the unbelievable Penha Longa Resort in the Sintra Mountains! This amazing Ritz-Carlton property dates back to a 14th-century Monastery, it's truly remarkable. The adventure will be April 15 - 20, 2017 and we've worked closely with the resort to design a unique and unforgettable experience.

Some photos from San Juan and St Thomas :)

Here's a view of the pool looking back at the hotel here - we finally got the kids out of the pool, but then we couldn't get them out of the ocean.
Here's a view of our beach day at The Baths just off St Thomas in Virgin Gorda.
A woman checks her map to help navigate around the Old Town area of San Juan.
Ethan and I nabbed some surfboards one day and went out for the day while my wife and girls cracked up at all our spectacular wipe-outs. Here's one of me my wife grabbed.
...aaaaaand the girls are back in the warm waters of the Caribbean! Having fun as always... it's good to be around my kids all the time... makes me feel both young and old at the same time!
Exploring the Old Town area of San Juan... getting lost in the colorful and amazing streets. For those of you that saw the live broadcasts while I was in San Juan would have seen this area when I was walking around and the first part of the post-processing edit.
Here's another shot of The Baths in Virgin Gorda - this is where we all spent a few fun days while in St Thomas! My girls love the water there and we had a fairly harrowing spelunking session to find some hidden spots. It all looks quite simple from way above here, but when you start trying to get between all those boulders in tiny, hidden water-caves, it can get a bit dicey... especially when you're carrying a bunch of photography gear.
I took this while walking the night streets of Old Town in San Juan with my friend Scott Jarvie :)
