Becoming an Artist LIVE - Gear Geekery Show with Stu & Trey!

A couple weeks ago I headed over to my friend Stu's studio - Studio 66. We got our photography gear out and talked about it all, super geeky I know. Stu's quite the Leica expert so it was nice to learn some new things about them. If you want to check out my gear I have most of it listed over on a my camera equipment page :)

One of my favorite photo editing Spotify playlists!

Feelin' Supafresh - This is an inconsistent selection of some of my favorite songs I've added to Spotify in the past few months. Most of them are ambient and somewhat electronic-flowy. This is what I usually listen to while taking or editing photos! :)

New Windows Machine

How amazing is this new Windows machine? I'm an Apple guy now, but this is luring me back maybe!

Cool new stuff on Kickstarter!

Have you seen this new Kickstarter project? I think it's pretty awesome. Its called the 'Life Lite - Your Everyday Light for any Lifestyle'. The concept behind it is that in everyday life we rarely have the proper light that we need to capture those moments. It's bluetooth controlled, pocket sized and can connect to an iPhone, Android, DSLR, GoPro and a heap of other cameras! Pretty cool eh?

StuckInCustoms.com is a personal blog where Trey puts up a new unique photo every day and writes about the art, the technology, and the story of the adventures. Actually, this is Trey writing about this in third person. Both Trey and I appreciate your support very much!

Some photos from over on the Blog :)

If you ever make it to Dubai, this is one of my greatest ideas that I discovered by accident. Imagine you are traveling across the desert (which you are, I guess) and sleep during the day and walk at night! The city is extra-beautiful at night and it's about 600 degrees cooler. Try to circumnavigate the Burj Khalifa here… There are fountains, pools, statues, crazy lights and more… it's quite fun to see how many compositions you can make.
Wow, that looks like back-breaking work. I find it challenging just to bend over to tie my shoes. It would be like tying your shoes, standing up, taking one step, then untying your shoes, then taking another step and tying your shoes again. I actually tried it for a while… I had a guy show me how to do it. One of the strangest things that I guess I didn't realize is that you are barefooted the whole time. It's really gooey in there… but it was nice to experience something so foreign to me but what millions of people do!
I was driving home from a photo event from over the hill in Wanaka and I got to the edge of the crown range and saw this. So beautiful! The Aurora Australis is just incredible. In fact, when I got home, we got the whole family out on the deck on bean bags to watch it wash over us. So pretty and mesmerizing!
I need to spend more time in Sedona! It's not the most convenient place in the world, but it sure was beautiful. And now that I'm even more into yoga and meditation and stuff than ever, I should get back there and vortex it up! I mention a few days ago how islands often have nice sunsets, but now that I think about it, so does Arizona!
Another Venice shot! Yay! I took this one about midnight when I was out with my friend Rene. Every Single Time I think about him falling into this canal it makes me laugh. It's just like the funniest thing in the world to me. Thank god he didn't get hurt, so I think that just makes it even safer to laugh at. Imagine falling in that water and having it go over your head while you're carrying your camera bag and everything. Oh man oh man, I'm cracking up just thinking about it again! It's like the gift that keeps on giving.
It doesn't rain much in Dubai, but when it does, everything is extra magical. Look, I will be the first to concede that Dubai is completely inorganic and fake. BUT, having said that, they do employ great artists to create buildings, shopping centers, and other architectural environments. So, even though everything is “pretend”, there are actually real artists that are building most of the city. In that way, it's a bit like Burning Man… beautiful creations in a desert of sand.
