Here's some photos from my last trip to AfricaLooking down on the Deadvlei
This a truly unique place in Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia.
Flying Over the Okavango Delta
One day in Botswana, we took a rather incredible helicopter ride! It came to pick us up at our camp that was literally in the middle of nowhere. And here's the kicker — our pilot was from Wanaka, New Zealand! That's only about 45 minutes away from my home… what a strange world!
A Wine and Sunset Adventure in Cape Town
After massive immigration problems (and literally getting Stuck In Customs in Botswana), I finally made it to Cape Town. We had a ton of fun there together! On my first full day, my friend Neville had planned an amazing trip through the wine country. I went to probably one of the most awesome wineries in the world there… I've forgotten the name now. It was so good I forgot a lot, in fact. But, I didn't forget to take this sunset photo as we were leaving.
Having a ball in Namibia
When we travel, we're such an affable, fun-loving group of artists that we end up making great friends with all the staff at these resorts. I think that, often times, the guests kind of ignore that staff and just think of them as servants or something. Not us! They join in with us as much as possible and come to our after-dinner parties. This is a photo of some of the amazing crew from Namibia after they finished making an amazing breakfast on top of a mountain.
Protecting The Kill
Here’s a rare action shot of a leopard in action! I say it’s rare because we were watching this gal lounge around for hours! They are super-lazy… but in a flash, she shot right up the tree to protect a warthog kill she had hung up there earlier when a bird of prey started circling around.
Zebras And Water Buffalos
It's nice to see these little pods of animals in such close proximity to one another. It was almost like there was some kind of animal-dropper from high above that says, “Oh, let's put 10 zebras here and 34 giraffes here and 24 elephants over there.” Over a week, you'd think you would see every possible combination, but that's just not the case. Just looking at these photos makes me want to go back again, and soon! This time I want to bring my kids since they are a little less bite-sized.
