Daily Photo – Fiordland National Park from Above
I’ve driven up and down this road quite a few times over the years and always found it to be stunning. From the ground the options are fantastic but I got a whole new appreciation for the area when I started chucking the quadcopter up to explore further.
Daily Photo – Guanyin of Nanshan, China
The Guanyin of Nanshan is a huge statue of the bodhisattva Guanyin, located on the island of Hainan, just off the coast of China. You can perhaps see how huge it is by examining the size of the average Chinese tourist at its base. This island is a common vacation spot for the Chinese, and they consider it to be like their “Hawaii,” although it’s really nothing like Hawaii. The statue has three faces. One faces inland and the other two face out to the South China Sea. The one facing the land depicted Guanyin holding a sutra and gesturing the Vitarka Mudra with the other. The second face has her palms crossed holding prayer beads. The last face is one simply holding a lotus in peace.

Daily Photo – Below. New Zealand.
Sometimes you have one of those days where you just can’t take a bad photo. This was one of those days. When the weather is cooperating and you’re in a magical place, there’s just no going wrong. These days stand out to me because they so rarely happen! This day in Glenorchy was definitely one of these magical occurrences… I was getting great photos on the ground, but then I launched the drone and the photos got to the next level. This is a panorama comprised of 9 different shots.

Daily Photo – One from the Archive
Here’s an image back from when I was first playing with drones. Back then you had a GoPro attached to it and sent it off on its journey, pretty much guessed the shot and brought it back. You never knew what you’d get until later. It was lots of fun but the more recent models are definitely an improvement!
… will now be Passport Monday for this week. Sorry for the delay!
Daily Photo – The Biggest Pool in the Southern Hemisphere
When I was here on Laucala Island things were pretty sweet! It’s probably the nicest resort I’ve ever visited and I was completely blown away the entire time. I hear that this place has the biggest pool in the southern hemisphere and who am I to question that? It’s more than big enough to have a pool party. Everyone thought I was pretty cool in my arm floaties.
